 | Your XPCamper is going to need a truck - after all a camper that sits in the backyard isn't much of an adventure.
Safety is a primary concern for XPCamper, and therefore we require a minimum payload capacity of 2,000 pounds. That's an F250 if you're using a Ford, or a 2500 if you're using a Dodge, Chevy or GMC (by 2010 standards)..
This might seem like overkill at first, considering the shell of the XPCamper weighs only 600 pounds - but the camper is only part of the story. After you load it up with 80 gallons of water, food and supplies for ten days on the trail - (beer is heavy!) and attach your boat to the back, you'll have no problem using up all the excess capacity. We'll be happy to help you determine if your current truck is up to the task, or help you narrow your search if you're looking for a new base vehicle, but we will not compromise in any area that affects safety, and we will not install an XPCamper on an undersized base vehicle.
Beyond that, one of the many benefits of an XPCamper is that your base vehicle is useful even when you're not camping. The XP flatbed easily carries almost anything. It's not uncommon for XPCamper owners to have only one vehicle which they drive to work during the week then load up for adventure on the weekend.
